With your help, Lucas is embarking on his first professionally-recorded album with a producer in Santa Cruz, CA. Lucas has been working hard on his new material and is super excited at this opportunity to bring his project to life. 

Hello Everyone! My name is Lucas and I am a singer-songwriter here in Santa Cruz, CA. 

I've been making music ever since I could poke around on an out-of-tune piano with no idea whether or not to use my fingers or my nose. My journey of becoming, both a human and a musician, has been full of once-in-a-lifetime experiences that have given me a foundation to build my ideas and feelings, cultural experiences I will never forget, and so many incredible opportunities to play music alongside a number of wonderful people. Songwriting has always been at the heart of me, but until I knew who I really was and what I truly cared about, my music has never struck home as much as I feel it has now. In order to complete these songs, I have started this campaign to raise money for the recording and finalization of this album.

What You Are Supporting

This campaign is raising funds for recording a professional album in Santa Cruz, CA. While I’ve been able to record and write songs from my makeshift "attic studio," to create an album of songs with full production and professional quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give my producer and I a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. 

Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Recording: This is when I enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs formulate into what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances and add all of the instrumentation that makes these songs whole.

2. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will be mixed to create the right balance, texture and color between instruments. The album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

3. Release and Promotion:  Once this album is finalized it needs to get to your ears and new ears. As a final step to this process, I will be sending my album to a distributor and I will do everything I can to promote it. 

The Impact

Music has led me on a journey of self-acceptance and social awareness. The person, me, coming through this album has gone through a lot of personal healing and growth to get here, and now more than ever, it feels exciting and important for me to bring these products of myself into the world's arms. This dream has been cultivated not just for my sake but to bring to light some of the injustices and problems we all face. I want to share these songs with the world and foster a stronger, tighter community!

My family and community have gifted me with their support and love while immersing me in beautiful cultures that continue to inspire my creative process. I've had the great fortune of growing up playing bluegrass music with an impressive local band, living on an organic farm committed to social justice, a wonderful education full of hands-on experiences and mental stimulation, growing my own band, and playing gigs from elementary schools to retirement homes.  

With the world as it is today and the majority of my musical outlet having been oriented around live performance and community gatherings, this recording project is important for me to keep myself moving toward my career goals. It's also crucial to me that I, as an artist, use my platform to contribute to meaningful change in our world. This album will help me raise my platform, giving me the chance to reach more people and share my ideas. With your support, I will channel my lyrics, instrumentation, and creativity into something new that you are a huge part of.
